Following a tip-off from a witness, police officers provisionally arrested the two suspects. When the officers searched the 22-year-old and 16-year-old, they found a piece of cable in the older man's jacket pocket.
In addition, the officers found that a fence on the premises had been cut and a bolt cutter was lying in a container. At the intersection of Eurotec-Ring/Konrad-Zuse-Straße, they noticed a car with stolen license plates in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene. The officers then secured the vehicle for property and evidence protection.
After consultation with the public prosecutor's office in Kleve, branch office Moers, the two Poles, who have a permanent residence in Germany, were released from the custody of the South police station in Moers. They now have to face a criminal proceeding.
