Presumably due to the ignition of a New Year's Eve firecracker, straw stored in a shed there caught fire. The fire brigade, alerted by witnesses, quickly extinguished the fire. The shed remained undamaged. Witnesses observed two people leaving the area of the shed before the fire was discovered.
The second fire occurred around 10:20 pm on the grounds of the primary school on Dammstraße. Unknown individuals had set the contents of a garbage can on fire here. Since the can was directly in front of the building wall, parts of the exterior facade were damaged. The smoke entered the school building through a window, causing further property damage.
The criminal investigation department in Dülken has begun investigations and is also checking for a connection. The Criminal Investigation Department 1 is looking for witnesses who observed suspicious persons in the Röhlenend, Dammstraße area on Sunday evening.
