BPOL NRW: Federal Police arrest convicted fraudster in Dortmund

On Sunday afternoon (January 12), federal police arrested a man at Dortmund's main train station. A prosecutor's office had issued a warrant for his arrest because he had not responded to a summons to serve his sentence.
Around 12 noon, federal police officers encountered a 37-year-old man during their patrol at Dortmund's main train station and subjected him to a person check. He identified himself to the officers with his Polish passport. The verification of his personal details revealed that the Lübeck prosecutor's office had issued a warrant for the Polish citizen. The Lübeck District Court had already sentenced him to a four-month prison term for fraud in November 2018.

Since the convicted person did not respond to the summons to serve his sentence, he was listed for arrest. The federal police arrested the Pole and subsequently took him to the station at Dortmund's main train station. On site, the officers confirmed his identity beyond doubt using a fingerprint scan.

After an examination by a police doctor, who confirmed the homeless man's ability to be detained, the uniformed officers took him to a responsible correctional facility.
