Achieving Peak Performance with Muscle Power: Specialist Seminar on Hand Pump Fire Extinguishers / Register Now for Firefighting History Training at the German Firefighting Museum

They were in widespread use until the mid-20th century and are still present in many exhibitions and museums today. The 10th Firefighting History Seminar of the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV) on Saturday, March 15, 2025, is dedicated to these devices, which evolved from the cumbersome wooden plunger pump to the modern metal version. The event takes place from 9.00 to 16.30 at the German Fire Brigade Museum in Fulda. Registration is now possible.

"Hand-operated fire pumps are a reflection of their time: they bear witness to inventiveness, industrial development and the idea of efficient neighbourhood assistance", DFV Vice President Frank Hachemer classifies the technology. "At the 10th Firefighting History Seminar, renowned experts share their knowledge. In three thematic blocks, participants can learn about history, preservation and future", Frank Wörner, Head of the DFV's Fire Protection and Fire Brigade History Department, promotes participation in the event. In ten informative lectures, the speakers deal with the areas "Historical aspects of hand-operated fire pumps", "Restoration of hand-operated fire pumps" and "The hand-operated fire pump competition".

The participation fee for the seminar is 33 euros per person. The target group is people who are professionally or voluntarily involved in fire brigade history, collect themselves or also manage collections, as well as all other interested parties.
