Speed limit violations on the A60 near Mainz

On Sunday, January 12, 2025, a ProViDa patrol (unmarked vehicles for monitoring speed and distance violations) from the Heidesheim Highway Police Station conducted speed checks on the A60. In less than two hours, the control measures resulted in a total of 1600 euros in fines, 7 points in Flensburg, and a 4-month driving ban for three motorists. The driver of an Audi A6 exceeded the maximum permissible speed in the Hechtsheim Tunnel by over 60 km/h.
Prior to this, the driver had driven through the construction site at the Mainz-Süd motorway junction at over 95 km/h, where 60 km/h was permitted.

Another motorist drove through the Hechtsheim Tunnel at 113 km/h where 80 km/h was permitted. Just before the traffic check, the officers noticed that the driver was on his smartphone. According to the driver, this was the reason for the previous speeding violation.

The driver of a Mercedes-Benz station wagon drove through the Hechtsheim Tunnel at 105 km/h where 80 km/h was permitted.

Most of the offenders were remorseful and promised to improve.
