On the evening of January 11th (Saturday), a fire broke out in the basement of a multi-family house on Feldstraße in Heiligenhafen. Six people were slightly injured, some were rescued by the fire department using escape hoods from the building.
The cause of the fire has now been determined.

The criminal police station in Oldenburg in Holstein immediately began investigations to clarify the cause of the fire after the incident. Yesterday, Thursday, January 16, 2025, a fire scene inspection took place with fire experts from the state criminal investigation department. The investigations carried out have shown that the fire was caused by a technical defect in a battery in a children's toy vehicle. Third-party negligence can be ruled out.
