(KA) Karlsruhe - Multiple traffic accidents due to icy conditions

Road ice was the cause of a large number of traffic accidents today, Wednesday, in the city and district of Karlsruhe. In the jurisdiction of the Karlsruhe Police Headquarters, a total of 103 traffic accidents were reported due to ice between 04:00 and 12:00. In the course of the accidents, about 20 people were slightly injured according to current knowledge.

One person was seriously injured, but not life-threatening.

On the federal highway 36 at the level of Eggenstein in the direction of the north, there were several accidents within a short time around 06:00. According to current knowledge, about twelve vehicles were involved in this area. Several police patrols were deployed in this area to record the traffic accidents. The right lane of the B36 was therefore closed until about 07:30.

The total damage is estimated at around 450,000 euros.
