Initial investigation results after break-in at the Wismar Zoo

Following the break-in at the Wismar Zoo last week, the criminal police have been able to identify several alleged suspects aged between 17 and 21 years. At the request of the responsible public prosecutor's office in Schwerin, the Schwerin District Court ordered the search of the apartment of one of the suspects.
During this, the police officers deployed found five guinea pigs and rabbits, which apparently came from the theft from the zoo grounds on the night of January 10, and handed them over to zoo staff.

In addition to the suspicion of particularly serious theft, investigations are also being carried out for violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

Further information cannot be provided due to ongoing investigations.
