(Konstanz Police Headquarters) - Attempted fraud in apartment search

A 51-year-old woman from the district of Tuttlingen almost fell victim to a scam while looking for an apartment. The woman came across an apartment advertisement on the internet and received a response from the alleged landlord.
She claimed to live in Spain and offered to handle the transaction through a third-party platform. For this, the interested party was supposed to transfer 1,300 euros as a deposit and the first month's rent to an account before the apartment key would be sent. Since the woman found the procedure suspicious, she independently researched on site. It turned out that the specified house is not for rent and the neighbors do not know the name of the alleged landlord. Thanks to her caution, the 51-year-old did not transfer any money and filed a complaint for attempted fraud.
