BPOL NRW: Two Arrests After Thefts in Cologne - Federal Police Solve Crimes On Site

On January 10, a shoplifting incident occurred in a perfume shop at Cologne's main train station - but it did not go unnoticed. A 29-year-old Macedonian now has to answer for his actions in court.
Similarly, a 22-year-old and a 30-year-old woman were caught in the act of pickpocketing on January 12. The Bosnian-Herzegovinian nationals also have to answer for their actions.

On Friday at around 8:20 pm, a 29-year-old Macedonian is said to have stolen a bottle of perfume worth 109 euros from a perfume shop at Cologne's main train station. According to a witness (here the store detective), the man put the perfume in his jacket pocket and then left the store without paying for the goods. The store detective was able to stop the man and informed the federal police.

Since the 29-year-old could not identify himself on the spot, the officers took him to the station to carry out further criminal procedural measures.

After carrying out the measures, the officers arrested the homeless man without a valid residence status and took him to police custody after completion. He now has to answer for theft and illegal stay in the federal territory before a judge.

Also on Sunday, the officers caught two thieves. At around 9:45 am, a 22-year-old and a 30-year-old stole a wallet from an 81-year-old man's jacket pocket on the escalator to platform 8/9 of Cologne's main train station. After the act was completed, plainclothes federal police officers were able to temporarily arrest the two suspects and took them to the station.

The victim had not noticed the theft and was informed about the theft by the officers on duty.

At the station, the 22-year-old suspect handed over the stolen goods to the officers. After completing the necessary measures, the officers released her from the station. The 30-year-old suspect was not so lucky: She does not have a fixed residence in Germany and was also wanted by the Cologne Foreigners' Office and the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office for residence determination.

After completing the criminal procedural measures, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian police acquaintance was taken to police custody. She too now has to answer for her actions in court.

The 81-year-old German was overjoyed to receive his wallet, with contents worth approximately 685 euros, back.
