The 23-year-old was also unable to show a valid ticket for the train to the police. In addition, he could not identify himself to the officers, which led to him being taken to the Federal Police station.
During a search, the officers found several police documents on the Moroccan citizen. The officers were able to definitively establish his identity through a data comparison in a police system. Research revealed that since the end of December, he had appeared in several cases, including fraud and theft, as a suspect with the Federal Police and was not staying within the area of spatial restriction. In addition, the Freiburg Regional Council had already issued a search warrant for the Moroccan's whereabouts due to a violation of the Asylum Act.
After consulting with the responsible public prosecutor, the federal police temporarily arrested the homeless man. However, the responsible judge finally ordered the release of the suspect, so he was subsequently released from the guard rooms.
The federal police initiated an investigation against the 23-year-old for fraud and for violating the Asylum Act.
