Koga Shinichi, born Koga Shinsaku in Omuta, Fukuoka, Japan, was a legendary figure in the Japanese horror manga genre. His most renowned work, “Eko Eko Azarak” (The Wizard of Darkness), captivated audiences both in Japan and internationally.
Starting his horror manga career in 1958, Koga authored over 45 series, but “Eko Eko Azarak” stood out, running from 1975 to 1979 and expanding into films, TV dramas, and an OVA, showcasing the story of Misa, a witch who uses black magic to enact brutal justice.
Koga passed away on March 1, 2018, at the age of 81, after a career that spanned over five decades and left an indelible mark on the horror genre. Despite his passing, his work continues to inspire and terrify new generations, ensuring his legacy as a master storyteller and artist in the horror manga world.
