Traveling at over 200 km/h

(lei) He clearly met the wrong people: A 20-year-old driver now faces criminal consequences because he was speeding on the highway and is alleged to have coerced others - including a plainclothes police patrol. The officer and his colleague were driving on the A66 highway towards Frankfurt on Friday evening around 10:30 pm when they noticed a car, just before Langenselbold, allegedly tailgating them very closely.
So close, in fact, that the officers could no longer see the headlights in their rear-view mirror. After the patrol switched to the right lane, the car, a black Audi S7 with GN license plates, is said to have followed another road user at too short a distance moments later. After this driver also moved to the right, the Audi accelerated to more than double the nighttime speed limit of 100 km/h near Langenselbold, according to the accusation. In a left turn at the Langenselbold triangle, the Audi's speed was so high that it was carried from the left lane to the hard shoulder; only an emergency brake probably prevented worse. In the four-lane area between the Langenselbold triangle and the Hanau cross, the driver accelerated again and escaped the pursuing officers - for now.

Further investigations via the license plate led to the identity of the driver. The 20-year-old appeared at the Langenselbold motorway police station shortly after midnight with the Audi. There, among other things, the officers secured the S7 and the man's driver's license. He is now being investigated on suspicion of illegal car racing, endangering road traffic, and coercion.

As the officers described, it was apparently only due to chance that the suspect's traffic-violating behavior did not lead to any damaging event, as there was unusually heavy traffic on the expressway. The officers are therefore now looking for other drivers who can provide information on the 20-year-old's driving behavior. Tips can be given to the investigators at the phone number 06183 91155-0.
