IBU World Cup in Biathlon

Traditionally, the new year begins with the IBU World Cup in Biathlon - and so it will in 2025. From Thursday to Sunday, Oberhof was in the spotlight of winter sports. On the occasion of this sports event, the inspection service of the Suhl State Police Inspection carried out a police security operation to ensure a smooth arrival and participation in the competitions for the guests, visitors and the total of 57,700 spectators.
Four great sports days, during which the weather gave its all - from continuous rain and fog to blue skies and sunshine. Also in preparation for this year's event, there was a tried and tested good cooperation with the organizer. The traffic and security concept worked and all spectators experienced Oberhof at its best. The officers who were involved in the operation recorded a total of one misdemeanor and four criminal charges on the competition days, including two fraud reports in connection with admission tickets and two thefts. Overall, there were only minor traffic disruptions and the police situation was consistently calm. The operation was secured exclusively by Thuringian officers.
