On Friday (January 10, 2025), a motorist fled on the A 45 (towards Dortmund) near Olpe from the police. He was supposed to be stopped and checked after a traffic violation around 4 pm.
The driver had attracted the attention of the highway police because he was using a mobile phone while driving.
The motorist did not heed the police's stop signals. During the escape on the highway, another motorist was endangered.
During the pursuit, speeds of up to 210 kilometers per hour were reached. A police helicopter was also used in the search. The pursuit was initially abandoned.
The fleeing vehicle was found crashed at the Lüdenscheid-Süd junction. The driver was found and temporarily arrested.
Previously, the 42-year-old driver from Siegen had thrown objects from the vehicle. The officers secured these (a backpack and drugs), as well as the car.
The man from Siegen was taken to the highway police station. Due to suspicion of drug use, he had to undergo a blood test. He also did not have a driving license.
No one was injured in the operation. The ramp of the Lüdenscheid junction was closed for the duration of the accident investigation.
