, a basement fire broke out in a multi-family house on Königsberger Straße in Wiesloch. Upon the arrival of the first patrol cars, some residents of the property had already independently moved outside. A fire that had broken out in the basement had filled the entire building with smoke within a short time. The Wiesloch Volunteer Fire Department immediately began extinguishing the fire. Some of the residents were able to stay in their apartments, while a total of 65 people had to be evacuated. The fire department used turntable ladders, among other things, to rescue the residents from the smoke via the exterior balconies. Due to the frosty temperatures, the evacuees were subsequently taken to the sports hall at the stadium on Parkstraße. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. After extensive ventilation measures, all residents were able to return to their apartments. The property damage caused by the fire in the basement cannot yet be quantified. Further investigations will be carried out by fire investigators from the Wiesloch police station.
