250114-1-K Drug dealer caught in the act - 21-year-old offers cocaine for sale to plainclothes detectives

Uniformed police officers arrested a suspected drug dealer (21) in the act on Gereonswall in the center of Cologne on Monday (January 13). The 21-year-old is alleged to have offered cocaine and other narcotics "for sale" to two plainclothes officers who were on duty at Ebertplatz as part of a focus operation.

At around 7 pm, the uniformed officers were called in after the man, who is originally from Romania, had approached the plainclothes officers on Turnierstraße. When they followed him to a betting shop and he contacted two men (22,23) there for the handover of the offered cocaine, the officers discreetly alerted the uniformed police, who then took a closer look at the suspicious trio.

In an initial search, they found ready-to-sell cocaine on the 21-year-old and several hundred euros in cash and two bags of cannabis on the 23-year-old accomplice. In a trash can immediately next to the suspects, they also found and secured more units of cocaine for sale.

After initial investigations had also provided indications that the alleged dealer would also store narcotics in a multi-family house in the Nippes district, the officers also searched a private apartment on Xantener Straße with a court order. The search yielded no further finds.

The now homeless man is to be brought before a magistrate today. The two alleged accomplices are also facing an investigation for violations of the Narcotics Act. (cb/al)
