Viral Thread About What Things ‘Should’ Cost Starts Discussion About Affordability

Over the years, it’s become increasingly clear that the cost of living is constantly on the rise.
From groceries to rent, it seems like everything is getting more expensive. As a result, people are finding it harder to make ends meet and are struggling to afford the things they need.

Recently, Twitter user @mrnastynodrama shared a tweet stating, very reasonably, what things “should” cost. It started a (sometimes silly) discussion about inflations and how things today seem so unaffordable it’s almost laughable.

This is what stuff should cost:

Can of pop: $1
Coffee (drip): $1.50
Espresso drink: $3.00
Sandwich: $5
Movie ticket: $10
Phone bill: $30
Internet: $30
Rent (with roommates): $400
Rent (alone): $750
House: $150,000
